Noroxel Energy Ltd. Becomes Latest Alternative Energy Producer in Elgin County

Elgin County’s growing reputation as a favoured location for
energy and environmental industries has received a boost
from the opening of a biodisel plant that will soon be capable
of producing 10 million litres of fuel a year.
Three entrepreneurs from Elgin County have invested $2 million
to build the Noroxel Energy Ltd. plant, in addition to purchasing
the property , just outside of Springfield on Ron McNeil Line.
Empire Valley Farm Market Celebrates 25 Years of Growth

The story of Empire Valley Farm Market epitomizes how
agricultural businesses in Elgin County have grown and diversified
– exporting food from the County and importing visitors.
Founded as a small farm 25 years ago, the family-owned
business on Highway 3 west of Wallacetown in the
Municipality of Dutton/Dunwich has grown into a creative
business that not only supplies fresh produce to the region
but is part of the County’s fast-growing agri-tourism industry.
A High-Tech Success Story For More than 50 Years

ETBO Tool & Die has been a staple of Elgin County’s high-
tech manufacturing industry for more than half a century
and is still a leader in its field.
A family-run business with a reputation for innovation,
ETBO has never budged from its location in the hamlet of
Calton, on Richmond Road in Bayham Township. But much
else has changed since Etienne and Marie-Louise Borm
immigrated from Belgium and relocated their company as
an industrial engraver and tool and die builder.
Turbulent World of Paranormal Fiction Created in Quiet Elgin County

has turned her into a one-person industry.
Kelley Armstrong is an international and New York Times
bestselling author, whose Women of the Otherworld series
has made her a favourite of the paranormal genre. She has
published 10 novels in that series, as well as the young
adult trilogy Darkest Powers, a crime series, and several
serial novellas and short stories collections.
Village of Sparta Takes Visitors Back to Life Before Confederation

The village of Sparta in Central Elgin is one of Ontario’s
best-preserved historic communities from the era before
the formation of Canada. It has become a unique tourist
attraction and a leading example of how cultural tourism is
growing in Elgin County.
Founded in 1822 as a Quaker settlement, the village has
retained its character for almost two centuries. It has 28
buildings dating from before Confederation, including the
Quaker meeting house that is still a centre of worship.
Small Business Enterprise Centre Helps Entrepreneurs Become Successful

For many small businesses, chances for success can be
greatly improved by a visit to the Elgin-St. Thomas Small
Business Enterprise Centre.
The centre officially opened April 16 and has already
helped eight new businesses to get established. It is
serving a large and enthusiastic group of entrepreneurs
who are looking for help with financing, registration, writing
business plans and many other challenges of establishing
or expanding a small business.
